Sony HDR-CX405 Handycam can capture Full HD 1920x1080p XAVC S videos at 60fps (50 Mbps), Full HD 1920x1080p AVCHD videos at 60fps (28 Mbps), and 1280 x 720p videos at 30 fps. The quality of XAVC S and AVCHD videos is very high and the picture of these videos is very smooth. But, all these files can not be directly imported to Avid Media Composer for editing. Because Avid Media Composer doesn’t support XAVC S/AVCHD/MP4 from Sony CX405 perfectly. So, how to fix this problem?

How to convert videos to the right format?
Step 1. Import your videos.
Transfer shootings from Sony HDR - CX405 memory card to your computer.
Then click "Add video" button. If you want to load several files at once, you can click "Add from folder" button.


Step 2. Set output format - Avid DNxHD 1080P
Select a proper format from the drop-down list of "Format" bar.
To make Sony HDR - CX405 footage be suitable with Avid Nedia Composer,
you're advised to select "Avid Studio" >"Avid DNxHD 1080p(*.mov)" format.

You can preview or crop your videos by click the “Edit” button on the top of main interface.

Step 3. Press on the big red "Convert" button to transcode.
When conversion completes, you can find converted video by clicking "Open" button. Then you will find Sony HDR - CX405  footage can be imported to Avid Media Composer instantly.
